A Prosperous Future for All Islanders

An Island of Opportunity

A Jersey-sized Government

A Jersey-sized Government

A vibrant street scene with a red storefront and pedestrians walking.

It is important that young islanders to see their future in Jersey. This means the island must be affordable and must offer them a wide range of career opportunities.

We must continue to diversify our economy, making it easy for people to start businesses and creating reasons for young islanders to choose Jersey.

Jersey's next government must invest in economic growth, to do otherwise will be to fail all islanders.

Jersey's government must be Jersey's government. We must live within our means and never become 'just another part of the UK'. Our government must do better at communicating with islanders, it must stop wasting our time with 'lost' information that means we have to repeat ourselves endlessly. This means digital systems that work and make islanders' lives easier.

Government spending must be brought under control.

Connectivity is Key

Connectivity is Key

Jersey will succeed if it is well-connected and open to the wider world. Maintaining excellent air and sea connections to the UK and creating more flights and trade with Europe will support tourism, finance and islanders' quality of life.

A Caring Island

Connectivity is Key

Three people sitting closely on a bench outdoors, smiling warmly.

Our strong and caring community is the beating heart of our island's success. As the population ages, we must look after each other.

By building even stronger community networks nobody need be lonely and everyone can feel cared for.

Our parishes and charities are the perfect partners to work with government to help us all enjoy older age.

Investing for Success

A peaceful marina filled with various boats docked under a clear blue sky.

Previous governments have not invested enough in Jersey's future. We need leaders who will invest in Jersey's infrastructure. Only then will we create an island able to succeed for the next 50 years.

Our harbour is one area that needs massive investment. The harbour should be deepened, so it is no longer tidal. This would make a huge difference to Jersey's capabilities as a port and will enable it to become a real driver of economic growth.

Sheltered Housing

The Island Plan will be debated in the next four years and one of the big changes that we need to see is the inclusion of significant amounts of sheltered housing.

Communities like Maison Cabot in Trinity and Maison Le Vesconte in St John, are wonderful and help older islanders as their lives change with the years.

By building for older people, we create options that enable individuals or couples to move out of larger family homes, this means those homes are available for younger families.

Rather than only thinking about building family homes, let's focus on sheltered housing and solve two challenges in one!

Our Past Guides Our Future

Stone houses with thatched and tiled roofs along a rural road.

I've always believed that we need to look to our past to guide us in the future. Let's be ambitious like our predecessors and model ourselves on our history of self-reliance and entrepreneurialism. Let's use these qualities to take us forward.

I'm proud of Jersey's unique language, Jèrriais,  and believe it can help us strengthen Jersey's identity (as you see in the Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales and Ireland) to promote Jersey's unique past, present and future.

Young islanders, new islanders, all islanders will feel a greater sense of Jersey-ness, if we see more of our language around us everyday.

Growing Tourism

Tourism is so important to our wellbeing that I want to see us continue the investment that I have begun as Minister (over £9 million / year).

This will help our hotels, restaurants and bars and bring us more direct air routes and more frequent sailings throughout the year.

Helping Hospitality

Helping Hospitality

I would like us to go back to being a low tax tourist destination.

Lowering the tax on drinks in bars and restaurants will attract more tourists, make life cheaper for us islanders, keep bars and restaurants open and will probably mean that more tax gets paid as more people go out to enjoy themselves.
