I want to help Jersey succeed by offering a bright future for young islanders, supporting families and helping our parish communities support older islanders.
By remaining self-reliant and entrepreneurial, we can live within our means while enjoying excellent healthcare and education.
An island that is protected in an uncertain world by focusing on long-term success and balancing the need for economic growth with social and environmental gains.
An island that supports people to achieve their dreams, where government enables and then gets out of the way.
An island where our parish communities play a vital role in supporting young families. As the population ages, we must build strong community networks so nobody is lonely and everyone is cared for.
I will always champion Jersey's individuality and part of this is developing the commercial and cultural links with Brittany and Normandy, that we had let wither for far too long.
Jersey is an island nation. We have our own culture, history, heritage and mix of languages. We have our own government but for too long now, have modelled it on the UK. We need to find our way again, a way that is Jersey at its heart.
Whether in government or in scrutiny, I have done and will always continue to work hard for islanders.
From a new alcohol licensing law to reviving the agriculture sector or growing our air links with new European destinations (and much more), I have worked hard and delivered across my portfolio as minister.
I believe government should support and empower people, not control all aspects of their lives. My aim is to work alongside our parishes, charities, community groups and social enterprises so that government serves our communities, not the other way around. I also believe government must place greater trust in islanders and the contribution they make. It is time for the government to show greater trust in islanders.
